Recovery Spaces are free, welcoming meet-ups where people in the recovery community can connect.

Co-designed with people in recovery, these sessions offer conversation, light activities and a calm place to be yourself.

Thinking of coming along? Here’s what to expect.

  • Every Recovery Space begins with a warm welcome.

You’ll always find a friendly face, a good cup of tea or coffee, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Each week brings something new — from creative activities and games to open discussions and guest sessions — but there’s never any pressure to take part.

You can simply come along, have a chat, and spend time with others who understand recovery.

  • Our Recovery Spaces are open to anyone in recovery from drug or alcohol addiction, as well as people affected by someone else’s use.

They’re also inclusive of professionals and volunteers working within local drug and alcohol services.

Everyone who attends shares one goal: to create a safe, supportive and stigma-free environment where recovery can grow.

  • Each Recovery Space runs for two hours, but you’re free to drop in and leave whenever you like.

Some people stay for the whole session; others just pop in for a chat and a coffee.

Whatever works for you is completely fine — our aim is to make recovery support flexible, friendly and easy to access.

  • We believe recovery happens in community.

These weekly meet-ups give people across Essex the chance to build new connections, gain confidence, and enjoy everyday life in a safe, substance-free environment.

All sessions are free, informal and shaped by the people who attend.
