Voices of Recovery

Building confidence, sharing stories, and inspiring change across Essex.

The next Voices of Recovery courses are starting on:

  • Wednesday 6th May

  • Wednesday 28th October

Voices of Recovery is a free training programme for people in recovery who want to gain confidence, develop storytelling skills, and share their lived experience to inspire others. Led by the Essex Recovery Foundation, the course takes place in a safe, supportive environment and helps participants become powerful advocates for recovery across Essex.

What will you learn?

Over several weeks, participants learn how to:
• Tell their recovery story with confidence and purpose
• Communicate effectively in front of an audience
• Share their experiences to raise awareness and reduce stigma
• Work collaboratively to create new ways of promoting recovery voices

When people with lived experience speak, others listen. Voices of Recovery empowers individuals to shape services, challenge stigma, and inspire change — within their communities and beyond.

Be Part of the Change

You could:
• Share your story to help change perceptions
• Visit services to offer hope to those struggling with addiction
• Join a working group to create podcasts, videos, and articles
• Help deliver workshops and training to professionals

Our next public speaking courses are starting on:

  • Wednesday 6th May

  • Wednesday 28th October

These groups will meet every Wednesday (10:30am - 3pm) in Chelmsford for six weeks. On the final week, participants will be invited to share a lived experience story with a small audience.
